This autumn Human Equivalent has been “exported” to the USA. I still wanted to keep playing/improving/writing for HE. Berklee students Alan Benzie joined HE in the summer 2008 and Patrick Kunka subbed for Calum at Fettes Jazz Festival, Edinburgh 2008 so there was a core who knew the music. We co-opted Berklee students Serghio Jansen from Aruba and Martin Nessi from Chile, and played 2 gigs in November 2008 in Boston.

Organised and led by saxophonist Paul Towndrow, Jazz Futures started in the summer a platform for up and coming players. Started in the summer of 2008, we are playing at Glasgow Winterfest in January 2009. Fun, as I get to play with John Lowrie, drummer in Dumfries Youth Jazz Group when I was a member.

I’ve also been working with Patrick in his quartet which also includes Alan Benzie on Piano. We’re working on original material by Patrick and also some numbers by Alan and myself. James Lindsay from Jazz Futures is also joining us in Aberdeen for a gig in January.

Had a great time in Venezuela and Aruba in June 2008 playing with this band and Oscar Stagnaro and an awesome time with them at the Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival in September 2008. We are hoping to organise a European Tour in the summer, visiting our home countries of Switzerland, Italy, U.K., Holland and any countries in between!!

Mad dash from Buffalo at Thanksgiving back to Boston and on to Atlanta, Georgia to represent Berklee College of Music during their annual scholarship tour.
