Weather in Boston: Wet, Hot as Hell Humidity!!!, SNOW STORM, Wet, Hot as Hell Humidity!!!, SNOW STORM, Wet… Yep, this is your typical New England Spring time! I must admit, the weather does wonders if you’re looking to plumb your creative depths, but sometimes, I could just do with a good dose of sunshine and clear skies. So, I am very fortunate to be going on another Berklee Scholarship Audition Tour this Spring to…. beautiful L.A.!! From April 2nd-5th, I will be helping to prep prospective students for their entering audition and telling them and their parents a little about life at Berklee. If you’ll be in the area and thinking of auditioning, I’ll see you there! If you are at all interested in Berklee and applying to study there, no matter where you’re from or who you are, please check out the official website: www.berklee.edu

I am currently playing with the Salsa Band ‘Son De Boston’ run by Berklee Professor and piano player Rich Grudzinski, which has done various gigs at night clubs and dance venues in the Boston area. The band is great, the nights are fun (and hot!), so if you ever feel like getting down and soaking up those latin vibes and participating in some of the best dancing in the north-east, check out the group’s MySpace page: Son de Boston.

We had a really great gig at the Berklee Performance Center (2 Feb.). Thanks to the band, Alan Benzie (keys), Patrick Kunka (drumset), Serghio Jansen (electric guitar) and Martin Nessi (electric bass). Great job, guys. Thanks to everyone who came along and heckled! We got a great recording, the PA was awesome in that great big auditorium. I’m waiting to see what the DVD looks like, and hopefully we’ll get some of the tracks up soon and the videos on to this web site and YouTube.

I’m back in Boston for my last semester at Berklee College of Music. All sorts of exciting things, including gigs at the BPC with my Human Equivalent U.S. band (Feb.2) and with the Patrick Kunka Quartet (Mar 4). Graduation in May!

This autumn Human Equivalent has been “exported” to the USA. I still wanted to keep playing/improving/writing for HE. Berklee students Alan Benzie joined HE in the summer 2008 and Patrick Kunka subbed for Calum at Fettes Jazz Festival, Edinburgh 2008 so there was a core who knew the music. We co-opted Berklee students Serghio Jansen from Aruba and Martin Nessi from Chile, and played 2 gigs in November 2008 in Boston.

Mad dash from Buffalo at Thanksgiving back to Boston and on to Atlanta, Georgia to represent Berklee College of Music during their annual scholarship tour.
